Human in the loop

Responsibilities that belong to leaders, not AI

The Human as Framework Orchestrator

DIRECTION

AI can explore possibilities, but the orchestrator decides what matters now, what outcomes to pursue, and when strategy needs to change.

JUDGEMENT

When there is no perfect answer – only trade-offs between speed, cost, quality, compliance, or customer value – the orchestrator makes the call.

COURSE CORRECTION

When assumptions break, the orchestrator reassesses, updates CAVE context, and re-commissions work on the new trajectory. Human redirections become binding context for all subsequent agent activity.

ETHICS

AI can analyse but cannot judge fairness, proportionality, or harm. The orchestrator applies ethical review proportional to impact – ensuring AI-optimised outputs do not trade accessibility, compliance, or organisational values for efficiency.

APPROVAL

AI prepares the case. The orchestrator decides whether to act – before work propagates downstream, not after.

ACCOUNTABILITY

A named person must stand behind every critical decision and every outcome released into the business.
